Become The Ruler
of Your Projects

Asimi is an open-source, multi-model, single-daemon harness. It governs your projects by an imperial court so your codebase moves with intent, not chaos.

The Court

  1. With Asimi you don't micromanage keystrokes; you rule
  2. Your Secretary captures your intent and formulates edicts
  3. You review, sharpen and approve edicts
  4. Rituals (aka workflows) weave the ministers and guardrails to implement edicts, init projects and more

The Three Realms (三界)

Asimi's one job is the continuous harmonization of the Three Realms

🧑

人 Ren (Intent and Will)

Your wants, edicts, documents and tests. Intent is subjective and often ambiguous, so it is never obeyed blindly: the court raises 正名 and asks the ruler as guessing is treason.

The ruler states intent; the court rectifies names

🌍

地 Di (Earth)

Production code, shaped by the Forge (工部) and maintained by git.

The Forge shapes the code

⚡

天 Tian (Heaven)

Tests pass or fail; CI renders verdicts; logs record events. Heaven is immutable, binary, and absolute. It does not suggest, signal, or negotiate — it judges.

Asimi uses webhooks to listen and handle tian events

The Ministers

Secretary (中書令)

Receives your intent, rectifies names(正名), and drafts edicts.

Chancellor (侍中)

Advises, reviews code against the Imperial Code, and holds the Chancellor's Seal.

Strategist (兵部)

Plans complex campaigns — battle plans for medium and large epics, covering multiple edicts.

Forge (工部)

Writes clean concise code — produces manifests with the implementation details.

Judge (刑部)

Runs tests and renders the binary verdict: pass or fail.

No minister is fully trusted — if the Forge fakes a test, the Judge catches it. No change reaches Heaven without passing every seal, including yours.

The Seal Chain — Ascension

An edict ascends from Earth to Heaven through the seal chain:

👩‍⚖️

Judge's Seal

Judge's Seal — no tests were changed and the change is well tested and the tests pass

☯️

Chancellor's Seal

Chancellor's Seal — the code is simply using the right names and adheres to the Imperial Code

🤴

Ruler's Seal

Ruler's Seal — your final approval; the edict ascends to Heaven

Key Principles

Zhengming (正名) — Never guess; ask 仁 Ren — Benevolence 义 Yi — Righteousness 礼 Li — Propriety 智 Zhi — Wisdom 信 Xin — Trustworthiness

🛠️

AgentOps Init

An init command that creates:
  • A Justfile to hold the project's scripts
  • A Dockerfile to define the sandbox where the model's shell runs
🎨

Vi Mimicry

Based on the fittest dev tool ever made. If you know ex/vi/vim/neovim, you already know Asimi.

🏝️

Podman Sandboxes

Agent's shell runs in its own container. Your host system stays protected while the models works freely.

🦙

Multiple LLM Providers

Support for any OpenAI API v1 compatible services. Use your preferred model.

⚡

YAML based workflows

Asimi's rituals are extendable and customizable. Create your own workflows or customize how edicts ascend.

🧹

Less Clutter

All special files live under the .agents directory. TOML-based config keeps it clean and documented.

# Fedora / RHEL
sudo dnf install podman just
# Debian / Ubuntu
sudo apt update
sudo apt install podman just

Or install separately:

Podman - like Docker but safer
Just - to collect all scripts in a Justfile

Become a Contributor

Asimi is built in the open and grows by its contributors. Whether you write code, prose, or bug reports, there is a place for you in the court.

  1. Triage issues and reproduce bug reports from the borderlands.
  2. Write tests that let the Judge render a verdict with confidence.
  3. Improve the docs, the Ruler's Guide, and this very website.
  4. Forge new rituals, guardrails, and ministers for the court.
  5. Review pull requests and hold the Imperial Code.
